Text Box: A Look at the Fall ‘06 Season For Matrix Soccer
Text Box: Matrix Officials Have Articles Published by NISOA
Several officials working with Matrix Sports Soccer have now had articles published in the NISOA Intercollegiate Newsletter.  Bob Jones, NISOA Liaison and National Clinician, has authored two articles that were published nationally and Jon Pitonzo has had one.  In addition, Bill McMullen has submitted an article that is being considered for publication.  Congratulation to our colleagues who has taken the time and effort to share some of their wisdom, thoughts and experiences through the written word.
The articles penned by our members are being posted to the Matrix Sports Management website and will be available under the “Soccer Library” shortly.  Be sure to visit the site, www.matrixsportref.com for the complete content of the articles.
Congratulations to all of our contributing authors!
Text Box: MSYSA ANNUAL MEETING
A message from Steve Jones:

At our last meeting the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association meeting was mentioned as a resource for training. I found their website (I knew about it as a former coach and had attended the workshop in the past for ideas.) and suggest that anyone that is interested in it to go. You will come away with some new ideas.

The workshop this year is at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore on January 27. The workshop is between 9-5. The cost is $15 and you will receive a free ticket for the Baltimore Blast Game that starts at 7:30.

The website is: www.msysa.org click on programs and the Maryland state workshop.
You will be able to register on line after
Text Box: January 11 on the website.

Text Box:      Matrix Sports-Soccer enjoyed a busy fall season in all levels of the games we officiate.  Matrix continued our commitment to the game by refereeing all Anne Arundel county girls public high school contests (both varsity and JV), all Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks sponsored youth games (age 10 and above), the Adult League at Ft. Meade (“A” League and “C” League) and many private high school varsity and junior varsity games.  We also acquired additional middle school games from various private schools in the county as well as a new summer league that preceded the fall season.  All in all, it was a very busy season for Matrix Sports-Soccer.        The following is an approximate break-down of where our efforts were utilized this fall:
Text Box: · Approximately 1500 total games
· 125 Girls Public HS Varsity Games (includes playoffs and one state final game);
· 35 Girls Private School HS Varsity Games
· 10 Boys Private School HS Varsity Games
· 85 Girls Public HS JV Games
· 55 Boys & Girls Private HS JV Games
· 155 Ft. Meade Adult Games (30 “A” Games)
· 1100 AA Co Rec. League Games
Text Box: · Matrix Sports-Soccer is planning a spring “Play-Day Event,” tentatively set for Sunday March 11, 2007, the week before the spring soccer season officially begins.  The plan is to welcome all Anne Arundel County Rec teams, ranging from U11 through U18, both boys and girls.  Mike Krebs is chairman of this event.  See the full story elsewhere in this publication.
· Training for new officials will be held in mid-February.  See the calendar of events for tentative training dates.  We ask that everyone try to recruit at least one new official in 2007.

Text Box: · Matrix training for Assistant Referees will be offered prior to the beginning of the fall season.  Anyone interested in being a referee or assistant referee for high school or at Ft. Meade must have this training with Matrix or have received it through NISOA or USSF certification.
· Attendance at training sessions and meetings will be mandatory beginning in 2007.
Text Box: · One excused absence will be allowed for each official.  Additional absences will result in a reduction in game assignments or fines.  To avoid sanctions, anyone unable to attend a meeting or training session must notify the Director of Soccer Operations by email prior to the meeting.  Special on-going circumstances preventing attendance will be considered on a case by case basis.
